dscf0012.jpg It has been six long years of not riding.  I recently was re-bitten by the bug and went out and bought a bike to get back into shape and vent some of my energy.  I was never terribly good at riding....

Of course not riding for six years didn't magically make me any better, and my muscles are telling me how old I am even as I type this.

A few of my friends are getting back into riding bikes.  One buddy rides a lot of flatland and freestyle and he said it has really helped him focus more on his work, and it gives him a release.  Kevin from Crema-Cafe told me about a newer type of bike that is tailored to old farts like me who refuse to ride a road bike, or be one of those "rad" mountain biker guys who do curb drops and get excited.  I used to ride on a smaller sized 21" BMX bike.  It's called street riding and is a bit like the stuff you see on ESPN or the Xgames but a lot smaller scale and without the giant ramps and energy drink  sponsors.

I rode a lot when I was younger, but I moved away from Ohio for a while and to be honest I was afraid of hurting myself and being out of work.  My bike got put on a hook in various basements for 5-6 years.

p45.jpg Last month I decided it was time to sell the old bike and pick myself up one of these new 24" rigs.   It just came in Monday and I am already sore as hell and have a ton of bruises and scabs.

I really feel a lot better about myself lately.  The bike has helped me get back into a better mood, be more considerate, and provided a way for me to vent.  Both my jobs have dumped plenty of stress into my life and without a good way to get it out I found myself being more of a dick then usual.  If you are feeling a lot of stress, you are not the only one.  Try to find something you used to like.  It may be a pain in the ass to get back to doing it, you may get laughed at, and you may really suck at it, but in the end you will feel better for trying.

I know I feel better....well, once the pain pills kick in I will.
