The apartment next door to me caught fire and I was about 20 steps away
from it. If I had been home from work on time, I may have singed
my eyebrows.

I was driving home late from from work into my apartment complex a few months back. I was tired,
stinky, and felt violated from the long day I just worked. I
pulled into my complex, got my mail, and was greeted at the back of the
complex by a police officer and an entire fire department full of trucks
situated remarkably close to my humble bachlor pad.
The cop told
me it was an apartmet fire, and I replied, "Good thing its not
me." He looked at me like I was a heartless tool. I drove around the corner to the back of my apartment and realised what a complete ass I truly am.
I pulled in and found out it definatly was not my apartment and my
kitty was safe. I chatted it up with the gawking neighbors and
found out that the occupants where not home and not injured. Then
I went inside, got my camera, and joined in the leering,
rubbernecking and took pics of it all.
